The Sufficiency of God's Grace

“Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Co 12:8–9.)
Today, I devoted time to “intentionally” reflect on this year. I thought about major events that have taken place in the world, as well as my personal life. The United States voted in a new president. Wars that were supposed to end have been extended along with new wars starting. The breakout of a measles pandemic that claimed the lives of innocent babies. Unmeasurable layoffs of innocent workers. Historical natural disasters and weather changes that resulted in the loss of lives. Business shut down due to financial challenges of meeting payroll. Each major event has altered our personal lives either directly or indirectly.
Life is “filled with swift transitions.” The challenges of life are inevitable. Jesus told His disciples, “I have said these things to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” (Jn 16:33). In other words, Jesus was letting them know—challenges WILL come---but “I Got You Covered!” (Hallelujah!).
In this world, we are going to go through something. But as a believer in Christ, you can rest assured that God got your back. Paul said it best when he prayed three times for God to remove his thorn. God’s response to Paul was, “My grace is sufficient...” WHY is God’s grace sufficient? Because God’s power is made perfect (complete) in Paul’s time of weakness.
The definition of sufficiency means to have enough of something to meet a need. We talk a lot of about the “sufficiency of the Word of God. The Bible contains all that is necessary for our faith to be anchored in God’s ability to do whatever and whenever He chooses to do it. It’s not enough to just say that we have faith, but we must place our faith in an All-Knowing, All-Powerful and All-Wise God and expect God to do what He say He will do. That means no matter what is going on in the world or what is going on in our personal life, God’s grace is sufficient! And you can take it to bank!
The sufficiency of God’s grace is what will carry us through the next phase of challenges waiting and lurking in our future. The sufficiency of God’s grace is what will lift our heart and hands to worship and praise Him even when “Life be Lifing.”
Where have you seen God’s grace sustain you this year?
For His glory….

Prayer:
Lord, thank You that Your grace is enough for us today. In our time of weakness, will You manifest Your strength in us? Remind us to trust You in every transition, knowing You’ve already overcome the world. Amen.
