Many of us grew up during a time whenever our parents said something……it was so. If you blinked your “eye” and acted like you didn’t like it you got “jack-slapped”! Whenever my siblings and I would argue, we would win the argument by simply saying, “Well, MAMA said……!” Once I said that…it was all over!
How many of you remember your parents saying this? “I brought you into this world and I can take you out!” My mother’s famous words were., “Girl..I will stomp a mud hole in you.” And I BELIEVED IT! I never could figure out how she could do that and get away with…but I believed it! Here is another one… “You can’t sneak around and do crazy stuff because I got eyes in the back of my head.” I remember one night while I was sleeping with mama, I thought about pulling her hair back to see those “eyes in her head” but I was too scared because I thought about walking around with a “mud hole” in me.
Despite the harsh words with a "tad" bit of an abusive tone, our parents did whatever they could to keep us out of jail. Our parents believed in honor, respect, education, and hard work. And despite their economic, racial and social struggles, somehow, they still managed to impart courage, strength and a sense of pride in us. Why? Because we believed in what they told us even when it sounded harsh. Why? Because we trusted them. We knew they loved us and cared about us, and they desired for us to have a better life than they had.
Just like our parents, we have a Father who not only created us, but He planned out every second of our life. He knows the count of every hair on our head (even when it’s weaved). Just like we trusted what our parents told us, we can certainly trust what our Father says about us.
Listen my Sister…if you are struggling with raising your children by yourself and you don’t know how you going to survive, My Father said, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11). If you are spending this season struggling with the loss of a loved one due to death or any other form of loss, my Father said, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10)
Perhaps in Yr2022, you've tried everything in the book to change your lifestyle and your social circle. Let me introduce you to Man who can not only change your current situation, but He can also redirect your future destination and then rock your world all at the same time. His name is Jesus. Your Father sent Him to die on the cross for you. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but shall have everlasting life.” (John 3:16).
One final thing that my Father said through His servant, “For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Romans 10:13). If the Father said it. That’s it. Period.
Make the choice to believe in Christ and then let Him change your life!
